Business Development Cited as Number One Reason to Join Social Networks
Sales Spider Survey Shows Majority of Users Look to Business-Minded Networks to Advertise and Promote

Toronto, Canada – March 26, 2008Sales Spider, the leading small business social network, today announced the results of its survey about the needs of business social network users. The study, which polled members of popular networking websites, revealed a staggering 92 percent of users focus their social networking efforts on business-related activities.

The survey shows as social networking evolves beyond college kids and HR recruiters to include small business owners and entrepreneurs, the need for new levels of business-focused tools that address real world concerns rises dramatically.

"Users are taking a closer look at the time they spend on networking sites and want results that reach beyond connecting with friends, accessing new music or videos, and broadcasting personal activities," said Sales Spider CEO, Russell Rothstein. "Business-minded users are finding real, tangible value through their memberships with Sales Spider."

In the survey, respondents highlighted top uses and reasons for joining social networks. The overall takeaway being that a majority of users want to derive business value from their time spent on social networks, with the number one reason for using social networking being business development through company and product promotion, locating business opportunities, and networking with potential business contacts.

A summary of the key findings from the survey include:

  • More than half of users spend at least an hour per day on social networking sites
  • Only nine percent of social network users find any business value in time spent on Facebook or MySpace
  • More than two-thirds of participants belong to more than one social network
  • 82 percent find quantifiable returns on time spent on Sales Spider or other business-targeted social networks
  • 77 percent said they would be interested in attending virtual business-related events offered through their social network
  • An investment of additional time was promised by 83 percent of users for sites that deliver business development results

Sales Spider is a 'one stop shop' for contact-finding, business development, networking and partnering, posting and searching b2b classified ads, and access to tens of thousands of sales leads and government business opportunities.  Members can also view presentations, conduct online tradeshows and host live chats and webinars - all for free.

Sales Spider Launches New Interface for Powerful Business Networking
Company to Dominate Social Networking Market with Website for the Business-Minded

Toronto, Canada – March 3, 2008Sales Spider, the leading small business social network, launched a new visual user interface (UI) today. Based on the culmination of user feedback, the new UI boasts easy-to-use access to sales leads and classified ads through a unique model that combines social networking with powerful business tools. With a user base that is growing at over 100% per quarter, the company expects to dominate its market in 2008 as the only social network focused on delivering business benefits.

Other websites such as LinkedIn, MySpace and Facebook have grown in popularity over the past 24 months. In fact, statistics show that one in four people between the ages of 14 and 45 are affiliated with one or more social networking websites. The majority of these sites, however, serve more as directories that pertain to a particular interest and provide minimal (if any) business benefits to the user. Users are now taking a closer look at the time they spend on networking sites and are seeking tangible results that extend beyond recruiting new hires, researching and downloading new music, and communicating with friends.

"LinkedIn and Facebook are great social networks, but at the end of the day they don’t make you money," said Sales Spider CEO, Russell Rothstein. "Every HR recruiter knows that LinkedIn is a terrific website for posting and reviewing resumes. And for every teenager, Facebook is great. Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs with a mind on doing business and significantly boosting sales go to Sales Spider."

Sales Spider is a 'one stop shop' for friend-finding, business development, networking and partnering, posting and searching b2b classified ads, and access to tens of thousands of sales leads and government business opportunities.  Members can also view presentations, conduct online tradeshows and host live chats and webinars. All for free.

The new UI improvements announced today include:

  • Integrated dashboard-style user homepage, offering members at-a-glance information on their business network activities, outstanding requests, classified ads, sales leads and more
  • Real-time "Make Money with Sales Spider" tracking of revenues generated through referrals and Google AdSense
  • Easier access to members’ preferential business tools
  • Enhanced accessibility and searching of sales leads – viewable by industry, location, and keyword

"Sales Spider’s new interface is more useful than ever," said Robert Blatt, Sales Manager at Acces Communications. "The dashboard allows for intrinsic access to my network of business contacts and sales leads, while promoting hands-on management of my classified ads. I highly recommend the new site for any professional looking to take their career to the next level."

Sales Spider is powered by a cutting-edge search algorithm code, 'Long Legs.' This uniquely perceptive spider relentlessly hunts the Web and wraps up thousands of sales leads, RFPs and RFQs worth billions of dollars for instant and free access by a daily-expanding membership. This robust and innovative search engine organizes data for effortless search by region, industry and keyword.

"The moment we launched Sales Spider our membership numbers skyrocketed. At that point we knew we had addressed a need that hadn’t previously been met. We consider ourselves pioneers in our space and take full responsibility for the shift in how people use (and think about) social networks today," said Rothstein.

If you would like to learn more about Sales Spider or request an interview with Mr. Rothstein, please contact Julie Tangen at 831.454.8523 or Julie@kulesapr.com.

A Tradeshow Shouldn’t Cost You money. A Tradeshow Should Make You Money.

Toronto, February 20, 2007 - 2 to 4 times a year, managers, CEOs and marketing executives have to make a decision as to whether they should attend or exhibit at an industry trade show. The question used to be whether you could afford not to attend while today the question is more likely can you afford to attend?

The challenges regarding traditional tradeshows are many. The primary issue is the return on investment. How do you judge the potential traffic? Just how much do you spend on pens or stress balls with your logo on them? Even more crucial is trying to discern how many of the attendees will actually be motivated and qualified customers. It’s another gamble which most executives would rather not have to roll the dice on.

What if you could attend a tradeshow attracting 15,000 to 20,000 motivated attendees daily without even leaving your desk? What if you could exhibit at a tradeshow where you could develop leads and close them on the spot? A tradeshow open 24/7 requiring no booth construction costs, no staffing, no setup or tear down and no travel. Say it’s free and then it’s a slam dunk.

And here’s the lay-up; social networking for business site, Salespider.com has launched a feature it’s calling “Networks”. The new service is designed to be a non-stop online tradeshow where everyone and every size of business can compete on a level playing field -- marketing their products or services online to thousands of motivated and qualified leads daily.

“We realized there was a real need and no one in the market was meeting it,” states CEO Russell Rothstein. “It really became a “no-brainer” when we partnered with Google AdSense in a ground-breaking program which allows us to share ad revenues with our Premium Network members.”

A tradeshow which doesn’t cost you money but, makes you money? Now that’s what anyone would call a “no-brainer”.
