President\'s Message:

Through our work with our client population, HTC is broadly committed to promoting, supporting, and strengthening a sustainable system of mental health services for children, youth, and their families in the communities we serve. A cornerstone of this system is that our services are \"evidence-based\" and that they produce the positive outcomes they were designed to achieve. Our objective is not only that all clients achieve an improved quality of life but, that all services delivered by HTC have empirically supported positive clinical outcomes.

This year marked the completion of the second year in the implementation of the Halton Trauma Centre\'s three year strategic plan.

We continue to make significant gains in our strategic priorities; Agency generated funds continued to be a highlight in 2007/2008. We again realized a record increase in both community fundraising and our out of region fee-for-service program. The additional funds generated from our successful year meant more clients received our invaluable service. At the end of our fiscal year our wait list for service was the shortest, it has been for many years.

HTC continues to be recognized for its outstanding service with increased funding from our Provincial Ministry. Part of this increase in funding is allocated towards clinical research for victims of interpersonal violence. This is important in our journey as an organization committed to learning and improving the pool of knowledge available to clinicians, victims and the community at large.

Volunteers provided the HTC with over 2,000 hours of policy and event leadership during 2007/08. This contribution ensures a viable and strong organization for today\'s generation and provides a stability that will keep the Halton Trauma Centre anchored to its charitable mission in the future.

Our achievements this year resulted from the efforts of many people-clients, families, staff, volunteers, donors, our community, and health care partners. These people worked together, like never before, as an integrated system. We thank everyone for their passion, their support, their courage and their wisdom. Our successes and innovations have strengthened HTC\'s position as a global centre of excellence and brought significant strides in supporting the lives of children, youth, and their caregivers who have been affected by interpersonal violence.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the Centre this year.
