My duties required me to spend up to 80% of my time away from home on business travel between Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. I was responsible for overall Quality Control (2.5 AQL) in the lines, pre-pro, fit test and CTL samples, imposed G & Gs in process quality inspection systems, final audits and ensured the facilities complied to their export commitments. Responsible for monitoring WIP and making timely delivery in accordance to the companys production schedules. I spent up to 80% of my time traveling away from my base of operations.Kellwood Sports Division, Rutherford, TN., U.S.A.Commenced with eight plants in El Salvador & Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, recruited a local Q.C. team and administrative staff operating out of offices in each of the countries with production peaking at around 250k pieces per week. As resident representative for Kellwoods 806, 807 &, latterly, its 809 programs, my initial and on-going duties included the sourcing of contractors for Kellwoods programs and local suppliers of trim accessories and fabric in accordance to quality, costs/pricing and planned requirements. Assisted contractor associates to producing realistic production build-up schedules, developed full production programs & ensured compliance to delivery commitments. Monitored WIP, controlled inbound & outbound shipments of prime materials and finished garments. I am familiar with all aspects of shipping documentation and port procedures. Resolved material discrepancies & reported on material utilization. I supervised samples and pilot production, interpreted specifications against patterns, nested plots (for grading) and markers. Worked on Contractor compliance and enforced Kellwoods mandatory in-process quality control systems that subscribes to the philosophy of continuous improvement. As Kellwoods local representative, I was required to assist the contractors to obtain a WRAPS certifications and, thereafter, to ensuring their continual compliance. Following the NAFTA trade agreement between the U.S. and Mexico, I was briefly transferred (some 10 months) to our Mexico office (Puebla) to oversee Kellwoods pre-wash, enzyme, stone wash jeans and wrinkle free pants programs. The fundamental requirement in this appointment was that I be a Jack of all trades and a master of most.
