JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Shielding Gases Filler/Operator

1. Refills/Prepares gas argoshield products and other shielding gases
. Performs Pre-fill procedures
. Operates vacuum pumps,compressors and other high pressures pumps
. Perform actual filling procedures
. Perform post-fill procedures
2. Conducts analysis of argoshield products,other Shielding gases and
bulk cryo liquid products.
. Calibrates/operates various analysers/testing equipments
. Evaluates if products's specifications are met and
performs
corresponding conformance/non-conformance of the products
tested.
3. Assist in rendering prompt analytical service to internal and
external
customer.
4. Operates mobile handling equipment i.e. FLT to transfer
cylinder/MCPs to and from the Shielding Gases Filling Facility.




Carbon Dioxide Filling (Procedures)


1. Start cylinder filling pump
2. Place the cylinder on the filling scales and attach the filling
connection.
3. Ensure that the cylinder is positioned correctly on the scales,
secured by the retaining chain and that scale area is free of
debris.
4. If the cylinder has been blow down, check the cylinder weight
against the current tare weight ring to ensure that there is no
foreign matter in the cylinder.
If the weight of the is not equal to the tare weight of the
cylinder as indicated on the cylinder's neck ring, appropriately
tag or mark the cylinder and place it in the defective cylinders
area.


Checking the weight of the cylinder is essential to ensure that
there is no foreign material, particularly water, in the returned
cylinder. The presence of water in carbon dioxide cylinders will
results in the formation of carbonic acid, which is corrosive and
affects the safety of the cylinder.


5. Ensure that the cylinder valve is open.
6. Check that filling is progressing by noting the weight increasing
on the scale.
7. Check the cylinder valve and filling connection for leaks during
filling using Teepol HB7 1% solution.
8. Wait for the scale reading reach the desired final weight.
9. When the valve sequence is complete, close the CO2 fill valve and
cylinder valve, then disconnect the filling hose.
10. Check the scales reading to ensure that the correct final weight is
reached.
11. Complete the filling log sheet for the cylinder filled.



CYLINDER MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN


|1.0 SCRAPING AND PAINTING |
|Accepting and checking cylinders for any defects, e.g., dent, |
|corrosion, burn, pit, bulge, etc. |
|Segregating cylinders according to defects and transferring them |
|to proper designated areas. |
|Scraping rust, dirt, and deteriorated paints on the cylinder body |
|through the use of scraping machine. |
|Painting cylinders mechanically using painting machine or painting|
|cylinders manually with the appropriate color base on the standard|
|CIGI color coding. |

|DEVALVING / REVALVING |
|Devalving cylinders for maintenance and re-qualification. |
|Segregating good valves from defective ones. |
|Conducting external and internal inspection on cylinders. |
|Inspecting valve or outlet threads and cylinder neck or inlet |
|threads. |
|Selecting the right type of valves to be installed into the |
|cylinder. |
|Revalving cylinder to the required torque setting. |
|Regular checking of the torque setting of the valving machine. |
|Preparing reports for rejected/condemned, converted, confiscated |
|cylinders, and other related reports. |

|INTERNAL CLEANING AND STAMPING/STENCILLING |
|Segregating dirty, rusty, and oily cylinders |
|Derusting corroded cylinders. |
|Cleaning externally and internally oily cylinders. |
|Transferring cleaned and derusted cylinders to designated areas. |
|Stamping/stenciling the necessary markings(e.g., test date, serial|
|number) on the cylinder shoulder after hydrostatic testing. |

|testing. |

|5.0 IN-VALVE/OUT-VALVE (IN-SITU) MAINTENANCE |
|Dismantling cylinder valves completely. |
|Removing worn-out valve parts and replacing with new ones. |
|Cleaning and reconditioning cylinder valves. |
|Disposing unusable valves. |
|Performing in-valve maintenance at refilling areas as required. |
|Preparing necessary documents for cylinders being released. |



OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES



Safety

1. Participates in Take 5 briefing, Toolbox Meeting, reporting of
accident, near misses and other related safety issues.
2. Assists immediate superior in conducting Plant General Inspection,
Risk Assessment, Hazards Identification and other related safety
activities in the work place.
3. Issues Permit to Work Certificate as required.
4. Accepts Permit to Work Certificate as required.
5. Wears required prescribed PPE's.
6. Religiously follows the General Site Safety Rules.

1. Ensures that the work place is incident-injury free environment.


Quality Control

1. Ensures that filled cylinders and PCC's/Dewars meet the required
quality, content and appearance standard.
2. Ensures accurate records and quality logs are regularly updated.
