. Project: Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project (RDP 25) - Barisal
Division, Bangladesh. The project includes improvement and
rehabilitation of 488 Km FRB and Upazila roads, 643 nos Box culverts of
total span length 1205m, 187 nos bridges of total span length 3949m, 38
nos Union Parishad Complex Buildings and about 38 nos Growth Centers and
Ghats. The project cost is about US$ 60 million funded by GOB, ADB and
KfW (Germany).

Location: Bangladesh.


Client: Local Government Engineering Department (LGED)
Year: 2004-2009
Position: Quality Control Engineer.
Duties Assigned: Responsible for the quality control of the construction
materials and works, Laboratory and Field Testing of the materials.
Testing of aggregates, soils, cements and field test of pavement layers
i.e. Sub-grade, Improve sub-grade, Aggregate Sand Sub base, Water Bound
Macadam and Carpeting etc. Also simultaneously responsible for the
supervision of construction of road, bridge and building works. Ensuring
that the works are carried out in accordance with the contract
specification and drawing and reporting to the Deputy Team Leader and
Executive Engineer (LGED).Also responsible for the estimation the
quantities of the works, preparation of tender documents and tendering
processes. I have to assist my DTL & TL in the project management to run
smoothly.

. Project: Jamuna Bridge Access Roads Project.(Remaining works, Contract
No-1) The project is a 26Km long including improvement and rehabilitation
of bridges & culverts and US$ 25 million project financed by the Japan
Bank for International Co-operation.

Duties Assigned: Was responsible for the quality control, Laboratory &
Field-testing of materials, Mix-design of concrete and asphaltic Binder
and Wearing course, Improved Sub-grade & Base courses. Testing of
aggregates, soils cements etc. Marshall test of Binder and Wearing course
concrete. Also simultaneously responsible for the supervision of re-
construction of 26 km road works including 4 nos. Pre-stressed bridges of
length 70 m, 60m, 50m, 40m and 30m respectively and 36 nos. of Box
culverts. The Foundations of bridges are cast-in situ piles. Responsible
for the supervision of Road maintenance works also. Ensuring that the
works were carried out in accordance with the contract specifications,
and preparing monthly material procurement and testing progress report.

Duties Assigned Responsible for visiting the project sites for the
assessment of the existing conditions of roads (FRB, R1), growth centers,
ghats, ferry gaps, urban governance of the pourashavas, present
conditions of the roads, drainage system, waster supply and sanitation
system, solid waste management systems of the pourashavas and to have a
through understanding of the proposed consultancy services. Also
responsible for preparing the consultancy proposal documents of the above
projects.


The main objectives of the above projects are: (i) To improve the rural
access and facilitate agricultural production through construction of
feeder roads and rural roads including bridges and culverts and through
construction of bridges and culverts on rural roads aiming at
establishing linkage between the growth centers and the places of its
higher order, (ii) To improve the physical facilities of the growth
centers in order to enhance their economic and commercial importance
(iii) To create direct employment opportunities for the landless and the
marginal farmers in the short run as well as long run, (iv) To enhance
accountability in municipal management and strengthen their capabilities
in the provision of municipal services, (v) To develop and expand
physical infrastructures and urban services to increase economic
opportunities, reduce vulnerability to environmental degradation, poverty
and natural hazards.

million project financed by the Japan Bank for International cooperation.

. Project: Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Project. The project is a 4.8km long
& 18.50m wide concrete post tensioned bridge constructed by segmental
balanced cantilever techniques, including meter & broad gauge rails,
power transmission & telecommunication line and gas pipe line. The World
Bank, GOB, OECF, ADB and Government of Bangladesh funded US$950 million
project.

Client: Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority (JMBA)
Year: 1995-1998


Position: Site Engineer.
Duties Assigned: a) was responsible for the supervision of piling works.
The piles were 3.15m and 2.5m diameter tabular steel piles of length 68m
to 82m. The included works were supervision and monitoring of pile
driving, welding the joints and also supervision of airlifting, pile
tremie infill concreting and base grouting works. Geometric control of
sub-structure. East & West approach viaducts including pre-cast piles,
columns, and pile foundations. Ensuring that the works were carried out
in accordance with the contract specifications and in a save manner.
b) Also responsible for quality control & supervision of production of
bridge segment. The included works were checking the forms &
reinforcement works, embedded items such as pre-stressing tendons,
concrete pouring, steam curing, erection of segments, pre and post pour
surveying of segments, testing of all necessary materials in the
laboratory & field. Preparing the daily work progress reports and
submitting to the respective Section Engineer.


Time spent: 30 months.


. Project: EEC-Post Flood Rehabilitation of Rural Health and Primary
Education Infrastructure Project. Approx. project cost US$2.6million
financed by EEC.

Year: 1993 -1995


Position: Executing Engineer.
Duties Assigned: Was responsible to the project Engineer (Local &
Expatriate) for the quality control and supervision of the on going
construction works of Government Rural primary Schools and Renovation
works of Thana and District hospitals in the Northern Zone of Bangladesh.
About 150 nos. Government Primary Schools & 10 nos. Hospitals were under
my control. Some Primary Schools were Flood shelter/ Cyclone type.
Monitoring the progress and quality control of the works. Ensuring that
the works were carried out in accordance with the contract
specifications, verification of materials quantities, checking the
contractor's interim valuations for payment purpose and checking
materials properties for compliance with specification requirements and
control site store. Preparing the monthly progress reports of the ongoing
works and submitting to the Project Engineer for necessary action.

. Project: FFW Bridge and Culverts Project FY-1990-1992, Financed by
USAID.

Client: Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation.


Year: 1992-1993


Position: Field Resident Engineer.


Duties Assigned: Responsible to the Project Manager for the Supervision
of the construction works of Bridges and Culverts at Rajshahi division.
The included works were (i) Construction of 70-0 "long R.C.C simply
supported bridge & one 10'-0" long skew slab culverts at Puthia, Rajshahi
ii) Supervision of the construction works of 180'-0" long R.C.C simply
supported bridge at Naldubi, Kahaloo, Bogra and two box culverts 10'-0" &
20'-0" long at Pirob, Shibgonj, Bogra. The foundation of bridge was pre-
cast pile foundation. Responsible to the Project Manager for supervision
of the construction works and preparation of the bills and forwarded to
the Project Manager. Testing the aggregates (Gradation) & field
compaction of approach roads of the bridges & culverts were included in
the works. Ensuring that the works were carried out in accordance with
the contract specifications, verification of materials quantities.
Checking materials properties for compliance with specification
requirements. Checking the quality of materials at site store & reporting
directly to the Project Manager.


Time spent: 18 months.


. Project: Jamuna Fertilizer Project.


Location: Bangladesh
Client: Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation. (BCIC)


Year: 1989-1991


Position: Project Manager.


Duties Assigned: i) Construction and supervision of 2 nos. 5 storied
framing structural dormitory building in the housing complex. The
foundations of the buildings were cast-in situ-piles. The client was
Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation ii) Construction and
Supervision of 2 nos. 'E' type & 1 no 'F' type each 4 storied residential
buildings in the housing complex. The foundations of the buildings were
raft. iii) Supervision of the construction works of boundary walls of the
Factory area. Making Bar schedules, estimating the quantity of item wise
works volumes, variation orders, preparation of bills, controlling the
labours were also included in the works
Supervision of the construction works of the Fertilizer Main Factory
building and go-down building.

Time spent: 36 months.

. Project: Private Building Project

Location: Bangladesh

Client: The United Engineers. Khulna, Bangladesh

Year: 1987-1988

Position: Site Engineer

Duties Assigned: Was responsible for the Supervision of the construction
of 4 storied Brick foundation private building at Khulna City.
Estimating the quantities of works, making bar- charts, checking the sub-
contractor's bills and controlling the labours etc. were included in the
works.
