at Clothing Industry Training Institute Ratmalana. In 1993. Which is
covered the below areas.
a) Basic knowledge of the costing.
b) Merchandizing functions.
c) Store Functions.
d) Product Development Functions which includes Pattern making,
Grading and sampling.
e) Cutting Functions which includes Marker making, Lay Planning,
Laying methods, Cutting methods, Bundling, Fusing etc.
f) Sewing and Work study functions which includes Line lay outs,
sewing methods, Line balancing, Needles, Machineries, and
attachments etc.
g) Quality Assurance. Which includes Fabric inspection, Shrinkage

> Presently I am working as a Senior Manager Operations at Brandix
Intimates Apparels Mirigama. I have join with Brandix in 2001 Oct as
Product Development Manager. Since there I have work until 2005 March
at same position then I have been promoted in April to the Current
a) Workforce of the factory is 530 and there are 300 running
b) Main customer of the Mirigama plant is Marks and Spencer
Children's wear which we have done directly from the Marks and
Spencer UK. Presently we are doing 100% Victoria Secret (Pink)
Jackets with wash and dye.
c) In addition, I have experience of handling the buyers like Next,
Tesco, BHS, Reebok, Lucy, Tommy Hilfiger, Eddie Bauer, Express, La
Redoute, Nike, Woolwarth, Intimisimi, Lands End, at Brandix from
first sample to shipment.
d) I have been responsible for the Product Development to final
shipment which includes the sampling, pattern making, marker
making, Fabric Inspections, Cutting & Bundling, Embellishments
(out sousing), Sewing, Ironing Packing and HR Functions. My
achievements are as below at Brandix in Product Development to
1. Maintain the first time sample approval at 100%
2. Maintain the sample delivery on time. And get the approval on
time. This help me to maintain the PCD(Plan Cut Date) hit at
3. Find out the new folders/machineries and easy methods of
sewing in sample stage and implement those in line feeding
time and save the SMVS and reduce the through put time. So
this help us to achieve the production plan and on time
4. I am the person represent the technical side in buyers
meeting in Sri Lank as well as Oversees (Mainly in UK).
5. I have responsible for the marker efficiency and we have
achieve the maximum level of the efficiency and maintain the
cut percentage at 103% - 105% So this will help factory to
maintain the order ship percentage at 102%-104%.
6. All the cutting instruction and the lay planes are doing by
product development unit (CAD). Therefore, this helps us to
calculate the cut percentage at much earlier.
7. I have been responsible for Conducting the risk analyses
meetings, Pre Production meetings and Technical meetings in
correct time.
8. All the Fabrics and sewing trims YY's are calculating done by
Product Development unit and which help us to order the
correct trims qtys without any excess or short falls. This
helps us to reduce our Fabric and trim writ offs.
9. I have been directly coordinating with Buyers and out side
suppliers in technical matters and get the approval on time
to move the orders smoothly. So this help factory to maintain
the OTD (On Time Delivery) hit rate at 100%.
10. Tighten the laying process and put the system to find out the
fabric defects in laying process and do the flagging then and
there to help the bundling people to replace the damage
panels. This will help factory sewing floor to get the total
cut qty to the line and maintain the order ship rate at 102%-
104% as well as maintain the cut ship percentage at 99% This
also help us to reduce our finish good write off.
11. I have been preparing a monthly cutting plan base on monthly
production plan and drive the cutting department according to
this and make sure that lines are running without input
delays. So this also helps us to meet the delivery dates as
per the plan.
12. I have implement the Pilot cut and pilot sewing procedures
to the cutting and sewing sections and do the necessary
checking to find out the cutting eras, Laying and sewing
shrinkage to adjust the final pattern before proceeding the
bulk cut. Which is help the factory to get the perfect cut
panels according to the pattern boards and make sure the
measurement issues are not in the bulk garments. These
systems also help us to achieve the Cut ship and order ship
as per the budget plan.
13. Formed a Technical team at sewing plant and involve them from
sampling to line feeding. This helps us to get the first out
put as per the feeding plan and achieve the target efficiency
within a short period without struggling.
14. Introduce the end line packing systems to the factory and
monitor the line out put from packing.(except wash/dye
garments) So this help us to monitor the packing out put in
same time and meet the delivery date and qty without
struggling. After starting the end line packing system all
the line damages are repaired by same date. So this helps us
to find out the daily rejected qty and we have able to full
fill the order qty by re cutting those rejects.
15. After implement all this systems and procedures we have able
to maintain the Compliance in 100%. This helps us to get the
all factory approvals at very first time without any
16. After implementing all the quality systems and the procedures
in each process we have able to maintain the CIF Pass rate
at 100% and 0% customer complaints.
17. Closely work with the HR team and we have able to meet the
labor indicates as per the budgeted plan. (LTO 2% &
Absenteeism below 5%)

Setters (Pvt) Ltd Panadura. (2001 Apr: to 2001 September)
> One and Half Years experience as Product development Executive at
Jewel knit Pvt Ltd, Minuwangoda 1999 Nov: to 2001 April)
> Six and half Years working experience as a Pattern maker, pattern +
sample room executive at Polytex Garments (Pvt) Ltd Ja-ela.
> One and Half Years working experience as a Cutting Assistant at
Mercury (Hidramani)
