Intake Coordinator: Answering calls for those in crisis and actively
listening to what their need for treatment may be. Once that is determined,
I describe what the facility has to offer them and what the Admissions
process entails. I conduct one hour assessments on the phone to see if the
caller is an appropriate fit for our facility and that we are appropriate
fit for them. I then gather info from any clinicians/professionals that
they see or have seen recently. I then prepare a summary to present to our

remaining questions they may have, get their travel info, gather all of the
paperwork, and turn it in for processing.

Once the patient arrived, I go out to "meet and greet" them as I call it.
Often times, the patient arrives with a family member who wonders what our
facility looks like. I conduct tours of the facility for them and for other
prospective patients as well. I welcome both new and some not so new
referents who visit our facility and spend time with them exchanging info
about their facility in return.

In between all of that, I give referrals for interventionists that may aid
in the process, at times have to conduct a partial intervention when a
family member/s are on the other line or on a speaker phone with the
patient, give referrals for both inpatient and outpatient options for those
who cannot come to our facility for a variety of reasons, get referrals
from clinicians calling in for their patients, and just offering
encouragement to callers to face their fears head on. Although this wasn't
written on my business card, my motto is "saving the world-one case at a
