OUR STORY : HISTORY
The history of De La Teja Studio first started with Heidi Lee of Heidi Lee Photography. Greatly influenced by her parents, who were also photographers, Heidi was surrounded by a love of art, travel, and photography. From the age of 13, Heidi began working with a Mamiya 645 medium format camera, learning the basics from her parents. At 21, Heidi started her first job at a local photography studio mastering the art of lighting and posing techniques while working with children, grads, families, and brides, for seven years. Thereafter, Heidi traveled throughout the U.S. working for studios in Chicago and San Francisco gaining further experience in photography as well as business.

In 1993, Heidi started her own business basing her clientele out of Wisconsin in the summer and Mexico in the winter. While living in the Yucatan in 1997, Heidi met Gerry De La Teja of Style and Action Photo. Together they lived throughout San Miguel and Mexico City for eight years and then tied the knot and moved back to Wisconsin in 2005. Deciding it was time to combine the successes of Heidi Lee Photography and Style and Action Photo, Heidi and Gerry recently evolved both businesses into De La Teja Studio.

For more than 16 years, photography, art, and travel have been Heidi and Gerry De La Teja's passions in life. The teamwork they have during photo shoots is unparalleled and is advantageous in their success at work and in their marriage. Since they are "romance junkies", there is sensuality to their approach. Heidi and Gerry see what others may not notice. They quietly shadow you throughout your day capturing whatever you reveal to them. They believe creativity is not a learned procedure – either you "have it", or you don't.

Their extensive travels have given them an edge by working with people in an international environment. They urge their clients to step out of the box and try something new.
