The former Vice President of Legacy Homes, Stephen R. Been brought a longstanding history in the home building business to the company. Been’s father worked with the National Homes Corporations, and his son took over the Vice President role in the family business when he retired in 1985.
Stephen R. Been currently contributes to charitable organizations in the Atlanta community, where he started working in the 1980s. He is involved with the Frank Ski Kids Foundation, the Mayor’s Youth Foundation, and the Marquis Grissom Baseball Association (MGBA). The MGBA is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 by a former major league baseball player. It works to assist youths from diverse background through the help of sponsors such as Stephen R. Been. Been also works with the South Fulton County Little League.
In a professional capacity, Stephen R. Been maintained several professional associations during his career. A graduate of Ohio State University in the early 1960s, he served as the President of the Golden Isles Home Builders Association, the Georgia Home Builders Association, and the Atlanta Home Builders Association. The latter is a nonprofit that promotes and supports the homebuilding industry in that city.
Legacy Homes has achieved significant accolades since its founding and continued to thrive under the leadership of Stephen R. Been’s son. Namely, the company was one of two national recipients of the Home Buyers Warranty Diamond Platinum Award, won for a 100 percent warranty satisfaction rating. Professional Builder Magazine named Legacy Homes the Builder of the Year in 2009.
