Over the past 15 years, executive Christian Lovera has worked extensively in the financial industry. He started his career as an International Mutual Fund Analyst for SEI Investments, where he was exposed for the first time to emerging markets. From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Lovera served in Miami as a representative for Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc. (MLPF&S), a subsidiary of top brokerage and investments firm Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. While at MLPF&S, Christian Lovera oversaw one of the largest Latin American pension funds. As a Financial Advisor with the International Private Client Group, the global arm of Merrill Lynch & Co., he received training in private banking and wealth management.
Presently based in Key Biscayne, Florida, Christian Lovera has served BancTrust & Co. since 2005. He functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Banking Division with BancTrust, and as a member of the Board he oversees the company\'s business strategy. He has spearheaded negotiations for corporate and government entities and has led the team tasked with structuring and trading distressed securities for institutional clients. As head of the Investment Banking Division at BancTrust, he founded BT Energies and Commodities (BTEC), through which he has acquired oil assets throughout the Americas, partnering with private and publicly traded companies. In his advisory work with BancTrust, he has invested, traded, and restructured over $7 billion in illiquid securities and managed complex, time-sensitive transactions such as the default of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., working as a local advisor for half of the 10 largest investment banks. Additionally, he advised on the creation of the Zumaque Fund as its project leader; the Zumaque Fund featured $350 million in project finance facilities for oil-related assets. Mr. Lovera currently advises on a $2 billion liability management mandate for the government of Venezuela.
Christian Lovera obtained a Bachelor\'s degree in Economics and Finance from Clarkson University, a top-tier institution in Potsdam, New York. Furthermore, he possesses Series 7 and Series 66 certifications granted by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), as well as extensive experience with the distinct rules and regulations of Swiss banking.
