Our CEO In his twenty-year career in the hotel and hospitality industry, California native Professor of hospitality Stephen St. Clair has earned a reputation as an effective manager and dynamic motivator which is widely recognized by his employers and colleagues. Educated at the Nazareth Private School in San Diego, Newport Harbor High School and Golden West College, Mr. St. Clair’s first job was as a valet at the exclusive Tiffany’s Private Club in Newport Beach, California. He soon worked his way up through various positions at the club, from bar back to front desk host, until he was promoted to guest relations manager and ultimately to general manager of the club. Under his successful tenure as general manager, operational costs were radically reduced through motivational sales training, creative scheduling and utilization of a cost-effective food, beverage, and supply loss control system. Because of his strong commitment to member and guest satisfaction, Tiffany’s membership roster increased from 3200 to 4600 members; the club maintained an enviable position in the industry via promotional events such as fashion and hairstyle shows, theme parties and media events. Board of Directors included; Joey Bishop, Stacy Ketch, Robert Goulet and Edward Martinez. (Owner)

The retirement of Tiffany’s owner and the subsequent sale of the club led Mr. St.Clair to re-evaluate his long-term career goals, ultimately deciding that the hotel industry offered a better quality of life for him and his family than the nightclub industry. Highly motivated but with no formal training or experience in the hotel industry, he was offered a position in front desk operations with La Quinta Inns in Ventura, California, where he quickly distinguished himself as a self-starter who soon mastered all aspects of hotel operations. The opportunity to manage his own property soon presented itself, leading to Mr. St.Clair employment as general manager for two properties in the Inns of California chain in San Simeon and Solvang, California. These resort and holiday destination locales presented Mr. St.Clair with the opportunity to make full use of his skills in guest relations and staff development; his tenure at both properties was marked by dramatic improvement in guest satisfaction and rate of return as well as increased bookings by motor coach tour operators, including those booked through Cosmos, Archer Direct, and Titan.

Eager to make his mark at a property with an uncompromising commitment to total guest satisfaction, Professor St. Clair relocated to Bishop, California to serve as assistant general manager and director of sales for Ramada Inn Limited. Under his direction, this Gold Key property has quickly emerged as the foremost property in the region, consistently surpassing management booking projections and profitability estimates while earning the highest ratings from satisfied guests.

Always active in the community, Professor St. Clair has served on the San Simeon and Bishop Chamber of Commerce, worked closely with the Solvang Visitors Bureau, and has volunteered for the California Department of Fish and Game as a wildlife volunteer. His achievements in the hospitality industry were acknowledged by his inclusion in the 2003 edition of Empire Valley Who’s Who. He is the proud father of two children, Stephen Jr. and Shianne.
