Grameen America has assembled a top management team, including Chairman of the Board Professor Muhammad Yunus, to lead the organizations efforts to help break the cycle of poverty through microfinance in disadvantaged U.S. communities. Grameen America began its operations in New York City in January 2008 and is working to reach sustainability and to expand its services to all individuals with a dream to run a business.



A key to Grameen Americas success thus far has been the addition of a CEO of Operations and Branch Managers who have worked for over two decades with Professor Yunus and at Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. The team, headed by Grameen Americas CEO of Operations, Shah Newaz, includes Branch Managers Shah Alam in Queens, T.M. Abdus Salam in Brooklyn, M.D. Asaduzzaman in Manhattan, and Habibur Rahman Chowdhury in Omaha.



Grameen Americas corporate office is located in midtown Manhattan. This office is in charge of all non-direct micro-lending functions including marketing, accounting, fundraising, and legal operations. Grameen Americas operations have no direct affiliation with or funding from Grameen Foundation in Washington D.C.
