Clarksville Department of Electricity Lightband (CDEL) is a publicly-owned, non-profit, municipal electric system established in 1938 and telecommunication network established in 2007. The company is the 55th largest public power provider in the nation and15th largest distributor of electricity supplied by Tennessee Valley Authority. CDEL serves more than 58,000 customers in a 96 square mile area that encompasses the city of Clarksville through 806 miles of distribution line, and 10 substations. The telecommunications network is the largest Ethernet fiber deployment in the nation with more than 960 miles of robust fiber and 37 hub-sites capable of serving 80,000 premises.
