A bout C.S. Counselling & Consulting Services:
Before embarking on what have been 20 years in direct counselling, I received my Social Work Degree from Ryerson University and is currently registered as a licensed social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Professional Social Workers.Formerly I had been a valued counsellor to numerous government agencies, hospitals, courts, regional law enforcement agencies, probation and parole bodies and various women?s shelters, within the Greater Toronto Area. My work with shelters enabled me to establish my niche providing counselling in the areas of domestic violence with both females and males which led me to establishing other niches such as alcohol and drug counselling as well as anger management to name a few.
When a person drinks alcohol, ?the alcohol is absorbed by the stomach, enters the bloodstream, and goes to all the tissues?. Ref: (www.drugfree.org.). Therefore the effects of alcohol are dependent on a variety of factors, including the person?s sex, weight, age and size, as well as the amount of food and alcohol consumed. Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant that is quickly absorbed into the body from the small intestine into the bloodstream. Drinking too much alcohol can take a serious toll on anyone?s health.
Anger is indisputably normal it is a totally healthy human emotion which all of us experience from time to time. However, anger not expressed in the proper way can become destructive if we do not know how to control it. Anger when it gets out of control can turn destructive it can lead to problems ? problems at work, in personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life.
Domestic abuse is often a slow gradual process, with the frequency of assaults and seriousness of the violence deliberately escalating over time. Since abusers often convey deep remorse and promise to change, it can take years to acknowledge ?that the violence will never stop and the relationship is unsalvageable?.
Depression is not just a temporary change in mood or a sign of weakness it is a real medical condition that can affect anyone, anytime with many emotional, physical, behavioral and cognitive symptoms. REF: (northdurhamcounsellors.com). Many people are ashamed or afraid to ask for help, while others shrug off their symptoms and end up agonizing in silence. Contrary to some misguided belief, depression is neither predictable nor is it a character flaw. People with depression often get negative ideas such as feelings of worthlessness, sadness throughout the day, nearly every day.
