Everyone knows that social media is all about building relationships. But it's not easy to monetize and generate profits. People look to be entertained when they log on to Facebook or Twitter.
They especially don't go there to get a sales pitch.
Therefore, if your social media involvement is expected to succeed, you have to offer a ton of quality content for free. And this content must answer specific questions in the minds of beginners.
The great thing about an email is that you have an intimate relationship with your readers. You can make them feel like your email is directed personally at them.
Even though your autoresponder is helping you send out a message to thousands of people, you have the ability to personalize your message so your readers feel you are talking to them alone.
They forget, or don't care, that you are addressing thousands. In their mind, you are talking to them personally.
So there is a real intimacy, which can make a sales message intimate and persuasive, thus generating more sales than just about any other medium.
Additionally, there are multiple times more email accounts than leading social media users. Can you think of anyone who goes to the doctor, or elsewhere and cannot produce an email address to register?
Email traffic, targeted and personal as it is, amounts to several time the number of searches on all search engines combined.
Most people check their emails multiple times every day. Many are addicted to their email inbox, and could not think of living without it. But they may go a day or more without using a search engine.
Emails are intimate, and they often contain sales messages.
Most of us prefer to be contacted by companies or organization we are interested in by email, rather than through a social network.
Social media are no match for email in terms of customers and prospects attention to your message.
In spite of the great amount of time most of us spend on Facebook and the other social media, it is much more difficult to grab someone's attention there than you can do via email.
Social media is ideal if all you care about is building relationships. But if your goal is to capture someone's attention, email is far superior.
For your business to grow and make money, you have to take advantage of the power of email marketing.
Of course, in order to use email marketing you must first build a list of subscribers. This is a whole different issue, which I address in other articles and blog posts.
I confess, I am obsessed with traffic. That's because after years of frustration trying to get traffic to my websites, I've discovered the power of some easy, time-tested methods for FREE, and low-cost traffic generation.
