The definition of the term "small business" depends on the country where it is being operated. A small business may have employees ranging from one to one hundred. However, a small business owner is very important in the success of his or her business.  A small business owner may be managing a bakery, hairdresser, a law firm, accounting firm, restaurant, photo shop, or a guesthouse. Anyone who wants to be a small business owner can start a business with small amount of money and operate it on a part time bases. A small business owner is much more advantaged since he or she is not working under any other person. This means that he or she is more flexible and can expand his business.

Despite the excitement that a small business owner may have at the feeling of owning his or her business, it is important that he or she lays down a business plan. This is important as it will assist him or her to succeed. It is significant to the small business owner as it has the description of the service or product and the eventual goal. A small business owner should know the impact of his services to the customer and how he or she can find him. A small business owner should make his or her mission clear with the knowledge of what he or she is offering in the market. For his products or services to be known, a small business owner should know how to do marketing. Finally, a he or she must have some management skills so as to leave the customers satisfied.

An entrepreneur is regarded as someone with ample and detailed information on ways of starting a business in a significant way. However, one requires meaningful and up to date information on the same. The person who takes the important and bold step of coming up with an idea, implementing it in a business, starting the business and running it qualifies to be called an entrepreneur.
 
A successful entrepreneur must be willing to put in a lot of effort into the business so as to get as much or more. An entrepreneur must be a god leader so others, especially his employees if any, follow his or her lead. As an entrepreneur, it is very important for one to keep track of his business and the on goings. This will act as an aid in leading his business and his unit in the right way. One must coordinate the unit and whatever goes on in his business, as long as it affects the business in any way if one expects excellent results. Team building comes in handy in entrepreneurship as it is vital that the entrepreneur gives an ear to his or her workers and do what is possible best to attend to their pleas where necessary. In turn, this will act as an encouragement to the workers leading to better results in business.
The entrepreneur must be innovative and apply creativity in business. The will to run the business and get the best results should be the driving force if one wants to succeed as it is not very easy.
