Personal Advertising
If you want customers, you have to advertise. Rather than paying for a TV ad or a billboard, why not put a bit of advertising on your own car? A magnetic advertisement costs relatively little, and it will allow you to take a tax deduction at the end of the year. Many of these advertisements can be moved from vehicle to vehicle, allowing you to keep using your investment even after you switch cars.
Go Social
Online interaction costs you nothing but time. If you are willing to invest the effort to having an online presence, you can connect with your customers without actually spending any money at all. A good social media campaign can bring in new customers without requiring you to spend a dime, and it also serves as a great way to let you maintain customer relationships.
Expand Your Website
If you do not have a website, get one. If you do not have a presence online, many will forget that you exist. Even if you can only put up a bare-bones site that gives hours of operation and contact information, you have created a valuable resource of new customers.
Personal Service
One of the best ways to grow your business without spending a lot of money is to encourage repeat customers. The best way to do this is to get to know your current "regulars". These individuals may not spend a great deal with you, but they come in on a regular basis. If you can treat them well, the odds are in favor of these individuals recommending you to others. Learning about them and treating them well costs you now money, but it can grow your business.
Target Your Advertising
Perhaps the most expensive item on the list, one of the best ways to expand your business is to target your advertising at your customers. Your average campaign, if targeted at the entire community, will only bring in a relatively small percentage of business. If you can take the time to figure out your business' main demographic, though, you stand a chance of getting a better return on your advertising investment.
