Here are 4 ways to determine whether a Rolex watch is authentic or not:
1. 1. A fake Rolex is easy to spot because of the movement of the quartz dial. The second hand stutters along inside the counterfeit watch, whereas a real Rolex has a smooth second hand movement. Listen closely to the movement of the dial. If the second hand is “shuttering” rather than moving smoothly, meaning that there is a ticking noise, then the watch is probably fake, as a true Rolex should not have a ticking noise.
2. 2. Another way to spot a fake is by the weight of the watch. Fake Rolex watches are generally lighter, whereas a real Rolex is made of high-quality metals, and will weigh significantly more.
3. 3. Next, take a look at the winder on the side. Usually, fake Rolex watches have rather basic winders to move the minute and hour hands, whereas a real Rolex will have a meticulously-crafted winder with engravings and grooves that are authentic and very well-made.
4. 4. Finally, the Cyclops lens on the face of a real Rolex will magnify the date. It is very difficult to replicate, so most counterfeit timepieces will skip this step and the date will appear the same size.
